Mitchell Pluto was born in Schenectady, New York. He grew up in Vermont and has lived in New Mexico, Northwest Washington state, and now lives in Western Montana. Pluto's work focuses on spontaneity and non-ordinary states of awareness. Mitchell's work includes painting with oils, and acrylics, as well as assembling collages often to explore unrehearsed arrangements. He enjoys painting female figures in expressive ways as well as fusing Surrealism with Abstract Expressionism. Other influences include Art Brut, Naïve art, and Outsider Art. Pluto also makes handmade jewelry and is a partner with his wife in a jewelry shop on Etsy. Mitchell is also an art editor for a small art webzine. Mitchell Pluto has paintings across The United States, Canada, Chile, Egypt, and Portugal.
